The Garden

Escape the everyday.

Set within the historic four-acre Denmans Garden, our terrace sits surrounded by flowerbeds and shaded by mature trees. Inside, sliding glass doors open the conservatory to the garden all summer long.

It's the kind of place you settle into for a coffee and end up staying through lunch.

Our Story

Adam & Ross.

In 2022, we brought our Californian dreams to the Sussex countryside. Named after a peaceful town near Yosemite, Midpines was born from a road trip that captured everything we loved about relaxed hospitality.

A year later we bought a home in Sicily — slowly being restored into our future retirement retreat. Today, the menu tells the story of both.

Midpines has a lovely relaxed atmosphere with indoor, conservatory and outdoor tables situated in Denmans Garden. The food and coffee are always delicious and the café boasts my husband's “best sausage roll ever” opinion. I'm also delighted with their vegan tart.

Lovely large pots of tea that give much more than a single cup! A very chilled atmosphere.

We have always loved going to Midpines. Whether it is just a cheeky coffee and cake (good selection of cakes!) or a breakfast/brunch style meal, it is always tasty and the service is very nice. Thank you

A very well cooked and tasty breakfast, loads of seating with widely spaced tables and pleasant staff too. All 3 of us enjoyed it thoroughly 👍🏼

Accommodated in a conservatory, Midpines cafe offers great hospitality and warmth through their tasty plates. They all harmonise wonderfully and make us feel happy. Considering the generous portions and efforts going into each dish, they are worth every penny.

The staff were lovely and brilliant and I wish I'd got a photo of the food as it hit the spot! They even went to the shop to try and find vegan cheese as they were out! Already recommended this gem to other allergy sufferers.

Nice and cosy place to dine in. Good welcoming service. Ordered the traditional brekkie and waffles — both were great. The mocha was good too, and there's a lovely garden outside to walk around.

We got the vegan breakfast, the waffles with berries and the English breakfast. The sourdough and hash browns were delicious! The berry waffles were delicious — quite tangy from the sauce, a good combination.
